1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 ½ cups whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

1 cup cherry pie filling

¼ cup slivered almonds (optional)

Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until well mixed and the texture resembles wet sand.

    Press the Base: Firmly press the crumb mixture into the bottom of a 9x9-inch square baking dish to form an even layer. Use the back of a measuring cup or your fingers to compact it tightly. Set aside.

      Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until well combined and creamy.
