Ingredients

8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice (e.g., fettuccine or penne)

1 can (5 oz) tuna in olive oil, drained

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon lemon zest (from about 1 lemon)

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, diced

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Lemon wedges and extra dill for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Make the Creamy Sauce: Reduce the heat to low, then stir in the heavy cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and chopped dill. Mix well, allowing the sauce to simmer gently for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Add Tuna and Combine: Gently fold in the drained tuna, breaking it up slightly but leaving some chunks for texture. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add a bit of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Mix Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated in the creamy lemon dill sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes over low heat to warm everything through.

Serve: Plate the pasta and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese, lemon wedges, and extra dill if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the rich, tangy flavors!
